Miss Nochlin says “there are no women equivalents for Michelangelo, or Rembrandt, Delacroix or Cézanne, Picasso or Matisse.” There are no male equivalents for them either. Rosalyn Drexler: There aren’t that many great artists in history for the name of this piece to make any sense. John Cage thought the question “divisive and an over-simplification.” I agree with all of them. Sherman (Drexler) thought it would be a cop-out not to answer it.
